2010s SUPERCUP MATCH DAY 2

Linfield 2010s continued their Supercup campaign today with a very hard fought 2-2 draw against IDA Bermuda at Ballymoney’s Riada stadium.

The wee Blues made 7 changes to yesterday’s starting line-up and couldn't seem to find their rhythm at all today and we found ourselves 1 nil down when the very impressive IDA striker out-paced a couple of defenders and rounded goalkeeper Matthew Belshaw to slot home with a very composed finish.

1 soon became 2 after when IDA broke down the right and had a waiting attacker in the centre to sweep home a low cross.

Half-time 0-2

Into the 2nd half and after a very constructive team talk and a few words of inspiration from coach Andy Hunter, the young Blues came out with a lot more purpose and immediately started to impose themselves on the game, forcing corners and throw ins deep into the opposition half. We gave ourselves a chance when one of four half time substitutes scored. The ball fell to Ryley Sloan, and with a number of bodies in the area, Ryley confidently directed a neat finish into the bottom corner after the ball had dropped to him in the penalty area.

Then in the dying moments, Ryley Sloan again popped up to score the equaliser after Bermuda had failed to clear a free kick properly.

The young Blues, although not being at their best today, showed that never say die attitude of all Linfield teams and fought back to gain what has turned out to be a very valuable point.

We travel to Clough tomorrow to take on Belvedere with a semi final place very much in our own hands in a game that could dictate who goes through to Thursdays semi-final.
