2010s SUPERCUP MATCH DAY 4
The wee Blues entered day 4 of the Supercup to play the Globe semi-final against Surf Select from the USA at The Warren in Portstewart. Today turned out to be what was our most disappointing performance and the end result showed that. We actually had a good chance to go one nil up early in the first half but Cameron Kennedy’s effort was unfortunately off target. To their credit the Surf Select boys played themselves into the game and with a mixture of bad marking and an unlucky ricochet the wee Blues were 2-0 down early in the game. Surf select then went 3-0 ahead when a corner was played into the box and the big Surf Select striker was given a free header to make it 3-0 at half time.

In an attempt to get back into the game the 6 substitutes were introduced for the start of the second half. After starting quite well and creating a couple of half chances we conceded another goal after some good play down the left hand side by the Surf Select lads.
We huffed and puffed to try to get back into the game and had a few efforts on goal and had an Alex McClatchey goal ruled out for offside. The second half was a better performance but the damage had been done in the first half. All we could do at the final whistle was wish the Surf Select lads all the best in the final and move on.
We had a good chat with the lads after the game as they were obviously all very disappointed and we have to try to get them up for their final game tomorrow against Glentoran in the 3rd and 4th play off game.
