2012s travel to take on Chelsea, Watford and West Ham.

Linfield 2012s travelled to London over the past weekend (14 and 15 October) to play games against footballing giants, Chelsea, Watford and West Ham United, in what ended up being a successful weekend for the wee Blues.

First up on Saturday 14th, the squad was invited to Chelsea's training facility at Cobham in Surrey, where they would get a tour of the complex and play a series of games against Chelsea U12s and Watford U12s.

On what was probably the best pitch the boys have ever played on, they competed in four x 25 minute games and displayed some expectional football, matching the technical ability and physicality of their opponents. The effort and desire of the boys matching the quality of the surroundings at Cobham.

The next day, Sunday 15th, the squad travelled to play West Ham United U12s at their Little Heath Training Facility. On what was a damp morning, the boys played four x 20 minute games against top opposition. The games required the wee Blues to be more physical than the day before, going shoulder to shoulder with the West Ham players for 80 minutes.

After the game the boys also got a tour of the Chadwell Heath Academy Facility, which was very much enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

Across both days, the wee Blues managed to score an impressive 16 goals. Something they can be very proud of and surely didn’t go unnoticed.

Goal scorers included;

Ronan Laverty - 5
Cruz O'Neil - 3
Lucas Moore - 2
Jacob McClean - 2
Aodhan Donnelly - 1
Joshua Clugston - 1
Reuben Griffith - 1
Anton Doras - 1

Linfield FC squad - Jonas Henderson, Cruz O'Neill, Jacob McClean, Alfie Meneely, Olly Roney, Toby Brashaw, Anton Doras, Riley King, Lucas Moore, Joshua Clugston, Ronan Laverty, Reuben Griffith, Aodhan Donnelly, Jamie Holden.

We would also like to thank the parents and family members of the boys for their support. This helped provide a positive and enjoyable learning environment.

Thanks must also go to Linfield FC Academy staff members; Scott Boyd, Lewis Houston, Alan Moore, Gary McMullan, Ricky McIntyre, Jonny Jamison and Jackson King.

Finally, the coaches, parents and players would like to sincerely thank the hospitality of both Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC over the course of the weekend. It was greatly appreciated and we hope to return the generosity at some point in the future
