Linfield FC women suffered a 5-1 defeat in the Sports Direct Premiership against Sion Swifts at the Melvin sports complex in Strabane on Friday night.

In an open end to end first half Sion took a 17th minute lead only for Mia Moore to equalise with a fine strike after 21 minutes.
Abi Sweetlove was replaced at half time by Megan Weatherall.
A deflected shot gave Sion the lead in the first minute of the second half.
On 57 minutes Rachel McConnell and Carla Devine replaced Ebony Leckey and Emily Reid.
On 63 minutes Sion were awarded a penalty and Linfield keeper Lauren Currie was red carded. The penalty was calmly dispatched past sub keeper Erin McAllister who replaced Rhyleigh Marks.
In the 83rd minute Sophie Gargan replaced Keri Halliday.
Sion added two further goals after 87 and 90+2 minutes to complete a disappointing night for Linfield.
Linfield return to action on Wednesday playing host to Lisburn at New Midgley Park. At half time the young Swifts squad will be presented with the Electric Ireland Academy league trophy.
