There will be an official collection in aid of ‘Beyond the Battlefield’ before Saturday’s Premiership game against Coleraine at Windsor Park.

Beyond the Battlefield became a Registered Charity in June 2013. It was formed to look after all issues concerning veterans from the ex-services communities in NI. Our main area of expertise is offering Specialist Counselling Services to those experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and connected comorbidity issues such as panic disorders, hypervigilance, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, relationship and financial difficulties, addictive behaviours and gambling, self-harm, homeless veterans, or any related issues they present with. We receive GP referrals, Health Board, Health Hub referrals as it is a niche area of expertise. Not all health professionals have training in dealing specifically with the Military mind. We are currently facing increased demand upon services with anticipated widespread demand to address the further related mental health.
We recently acquired a Centre in Portavogie to accommodate homeless Veterans so that none of soldiers ever have to sleep on the streets. Donations are invaluable to our Charity in terms of helping NI Veterans, all donations received stays here in Northern Ireland. All event fundraising and donations received will go towards our new Veterans residential centre in helping to provide equipment for one of the bedrooms for our homeless veterans. This year of course has been most difficult in terms of increased mental ill health issues amongst the veteran communities, attempted suicides and sadly suicides. Our specialist counselling services helps Veterans and their families with rehabilitation, we do not charge for services offered, which is why donations and fundraising are so important to us. We offer a diverse range of Services and address any problems effecting veterans and their complete family unit.
