At the end of 2021, Linfield defender Ross Larkin was diagnosed with a grade three brain tumour and had to endure an extensive period of surgery radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

After receiving unbelievable care from the incredible teams at both The Royal and Belfast City hospitals, Ross decided he wanted to give something back and embarked on a fund-raising campaign to raise funds for the brain tumour charity, Brainwaves NI.

Through a Just Giving page and by running the Belfast Marathon , Ross raised the unbelievable sum of £12,784 and at the recent Windsor Park presentation of the funds to Brainwaves, Ross said:

“I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who generously donated to my JustGiving page for Brainwaves NI. Your donations will undoubtedly make a significant impact in assisting Brainwaves NI in their mission to support individuals affected by brain tumours. Many thanks to The Linfield Family for their incredible support. Additionally, I would like to extend a special thank you to Ivan Ogborn, whose support has been greatly appreciated throughout my journey”.

Brainwaves NI treasurer (and Linfield season ticket holder) Steve Harris added that all the funds raised by Ross will go towards funding three PHD students in September at QUB. The three students will be focusing solely on brain tumours research.

Congratulations Ross on this fantastic achievement, you have been an inspiration to us all.
