Linfield FC records with sadness the passing today of Willie Henry, the well-known and highly respected president of the Ballymoney and district LSC.

The chairman of the Ballymoney club, Peter Rollins paid the following tribute to the founding member of their club.

“The officers and members of Ballymoney and District LSC have been absolutely devatated to learn today of the sad passing of Willie Henry, our club President and founder member of Ballymoney and District LSC.

Willie was an absolute True Blue and was completely dedicated to Linfield FC - the club he totally loved with a passion. Willie's last match was against Carrick Rangers on December 3rd and I am now so pleased that I was able to collect Willie and take him to our Ballymoney club's annual Christmas dinner on Saturday December 17th and bring him safely home after the event. My personal thanks go to my fellow club member David McConnell who helped me that evening.

It is so appropriate that our Ballymoney club will be featured in the ‘Look at Linfield’ programme on Monday coming for the match against Coleraine when Willie had hoped to be travelling to his beloved Windsor Park along with his fellow Linfield supporters on the bus our club had arranged for Monday.

Willie was genuinely loved not only by his fellow Ballymoney Linfield supporters but by all the Bluemen and Bluewomen who knew him and went out of their way to speak to him. He was a familiar sight walking to the South Stand to take his seat to watch his beloved Linfield and he will be sorely missed by our club here in Ballymoney and the wider Linfield family.

It was a pleasure and indeed a privilege and honour (along with other Ballymoney club members) to take Willie to watch Linfield play and our prayers and condolences go to the wider Henry family circle.

Today we have lost a True Blue.

Fortune Favours The Brave”

Peter Rollins
Chairman
Ballymoney and District LSC

The deepest sympathy of everyone at Linfield FC is extended to the Henry family circle and the Ballymoney and district LSC members at this very sad time.
